Seven Stars Studio Philosophy of Art

1. Art and creativity is fun! There is a certain joy and satisfaction in taking "ingredients" and ideas, and putting them to use in the creation of something that is uniquely your own.
2. Art for art's sake, this needs no other justification. Instruction in visual and performing arts doesn't need to improve standardize test scores in order to have educational value.
3. Desire is an active key to successful creativity. First you want to do something, then you seek instruction, put in some practice, and voila! you've done it!
4. There are no "secrets," there is only knowledge yet to be learned. Anything someone else has learned, you can learn if you want to.
5. Visual art is a method for the artist to tell his or her own story. A good art teacher knows how to provide instruction, encouragement, and guidance without overshadowing the student.
6. Project-based learning is a key component in high-quality fine art classes, with the artists spending most of their time working on their projects. Embedded in each project is information on how to use and care for artistic tools and media, the language and vocabulary of artists, and art history with artists' biographies.
